Overview

DeVaux (pronounced DeVo ) Havalinkol (pronounced the best you can) is a 19-year-old student raised in Tibet. He has been raised on a mountain top away from people of his own age by his mother and a number of other astronomers. He has been home-schooled by this group of scientists but now needs the education that only a university can supply. He is half American and half Russian and although having been to Moscow, has never been east of the Asian shoreline of the Pacific Ocean. His mother and he have decided that he will attend an American university to complete his education. One of DeVaux's passions is playing basketball which he has only seen on his computer streaming from the United States. He has a small court set up inside the observatory where he lives but never played so much as a one-on-one with another player. This story is about him becoming a walk-on player with his college team while also attending the university on a full academic scholarship in the medical school. If that isn't enough of a time crunch for any student, he also meets a young lady on campus who attracts a good deal of his time and attention. The story describes a good deal of his time on the basketball floor as well as his independent research. All this surrounds the relationship that grows between DeVaux and Sabine who are two people from different worlds.
